The idea of an all green haircare routine is a very attractive one - products packed with botanicals and plant extracts in the dreamy, hippy apothecary of our mind’s eye. But the problem with some natural hair products is that they’re just not as effective without the SLS and silicones we tend to worry about. We have to admit, we still love our silicones, but these beauties are pretty great if you’re looking for a greener option…

Greek To Me

KORRES’ Pure Greek Olive Shampoo and Mask are paraben and silicone free, and packed with Koroneiki olives harvested from rolling hills in Crete – and much like for your complexion, olive oil’s healthy fats help nourish parched strands, leaving them healthier and oh-so-shiny. But those with fine hair needn’t stress, as it won’t leave your tresses weighed down or greasy (a common concern whenever a product is labelled “hydrating” or “rich”). And it smells divine, too – basically, a ticket to the Grecian isles of your dreams.

Sun Shower

One to pack if you’re heading to sunnier climes this winter: Klorane’s Sun Radiance Range With Ylang Ylang contains UV filters to protect hair from damaging solar rays (because yes, much like our skin, the sun can harm our mane, too). It’s properly purifying – perfect for pollution and sweat in the city (or chlorine and sea salt if you’re luckier) while also being SLS free.

Go Nuts

For big hair, sans unnecessary additives, we’re fans of Love Beauty & Planet’s Coconut Water & Mimosa Range. Lightweight (yet nourishing) ylang ylang leaves locks bouncy and not flat in the slightest. The formula is free from parabens and dyes, and the bottle, which is made from recycled plastic, is itself recyclable – so it’s wonderful for your hair and the environment.

Soft and Gentle

Rich in botanicals from the Australian bush (think blue mallee eucalyptus and lemon wattle), the Natio Daily Care Shampoo and Conditioner will evoke a veritable outback scent garden in your own shower. As the name lets on, they’re also gentle enough for daily use (perfect for the clean hair obsessives amongst us) and leave locks soft and nourished.

Great Lengths

Frank Body’s deliciously minty-scented Caffeinated Hair Mask strikes the perfect balance – it leaves strands silky soft, but not looking oily in the least (a reason those of us with limp, fine hair often steer clear of hair masks). Its formula is paraben and phthalate free too, which is always a plus.
