On fashion’s night of nights, it’s safe to expect just as many hits as jaw-dropping misses. But when the stars align and the glam squads, fashionably elite, seamstresses and stylists collectively get it right, my oh my, do they get it right.

With this year’s theme a glittering and graceful nod to The Orient, the Met’s scarlet stairs boasted the best in fresh, floral and oriental inspired beauty. This year’s round up was certainly not short of supreme standouts; but we think the following red-hot hair and beauty homages deserve a little extra kudos.

1. Rihanna’s flushed cheek

RIHANNA

Hello, yellow! Rihanna’s flushed cheek is the perfect finish to such a bold and becoming look. The fresh and feminine directive perfectly counteracts with that chic sixties flicked hair. Opt for a warmer blush tone with gold reflects, like Urban Decay Naked Flushed Palette to really build on your natural blush tones.

2. Kendall Jenner’s sleek center part

KENDALL JENNER

So simple yet oh-so-stylish. A Calvin Klein-clad Kendall Jenner did what Kendall does best and kept her look youthful and fresh. With very little fuss, this center-part style is a winner in our books. Apply a taming masque like Shu Uemura’s Shusu Sleek Smoothing Treatment the night before, pre-blow dry, to avoid flyaways and frizz come straightening iron time.

3. Kate Hudson’s headpiece hair

KATE HUDSON

There are a lot of wonderful things going on here, namely that fabulously ‘fashion’ head of hair. Tousled and effortlessly pulled together, Hudson takes home supreme hair award, hands down. If you’re going to don a decadent headpiece, consider a freer, messier up-style for an undone appeal. Apply a little dry texturizer like Bumble and Bumble Dry Spun texturizer to the roots before styling for a little added grit.

4.  Amal Clooney’s structured brow

AMAL CLOONEY

Newly crowned Mrs. Clooney sported the best set of brows (and arguably the most envied arm candy) in the house. Naturally bestowed with a dark and dangerously on-trend set, Amal’s brows were kept tidy, structured and tamed. If you’re equally as blessed, opt for brow mascara like By Terry Eyebrow Mascara to keep your set in place, no matter how late your curfew.

5. Sarah Jessica Parker’s eye

SARAH JESSICA PARKER

If we can take a brief moment to divert the eye from the headpiece to trump all others, get a gander at those baby blues. Reigning Queen of the Met Gala, S.J.P, makes her blue eyes pop with a silvery blue hue. To achieve the look, apply a cream-based eye shadow like Chanel Illusion D’Ombre in Rivière over the lids, working from the bottom lash line and into the inner creases for a softened smolder.

6. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s wet-look hair

ROSIE HUNTINGTON-WHITELEY

The eternally sleek Victoria’s Secret Angel paired her plush pinot pout with an equally sophisticated side-parted bun. To procure the part, use a fine toothcomb like the GHD Tail Comb and part in line a few centimeters in from the edge of your brow. Voila! So fashion.

7. Dakota Johnson’s Winged Eye

DAKOTA JOHNSON

Dakota earned her wings in Fifty Shades of Grey and is fast becoming a fashion favorite. Sporting an adorably textured long raven bob and fierce flicked eye, the beauty maestro’s in Dakota’s corner deserve a round of applause. If you’re going to wing it, try a steady and user-friendly matte eyeliner pen like Benefit’s They’re Real! Push-Up Eyeliner. The crayon-like applicator and matte finish will leave you feeling like a pro, guaranteed.
