How To Pull Off The Ombré Lip From New York Fashion Week

One of the most exciting beauty trends of New York Fashion Week was the bold lip. Both runway models and celebrity attendees rocked daring shades, putting our modest little pouts to shame. Specifically, the ombré lip was a unique twist for autumn, making a debut in both Erin Fetherston’s and Pamella Roland’s shows. Although, as runway beauty often goes, the lip trend may appear complicated, we are confident you can accomplish it at home. Here's how.

Unlike ombré lips we have seen in the past that saw a graduation of intense colour shades fill the lip, this iteration blends the bold with a colour more natural to your own lip shade.

3 Steps to Luscious Ombré Lips

1. Hydration: Start by hydrating your lips with your favourite moisturising lip balm.

2. Pick your colours: Since the trend is to blend an expressive colour into a more natural one, a darker coloured liner is unnecessary. The trick here is to find your favourite new colour and pair it with either a colour similar to your own natural shade or simply your pre-moisturised lips.

3. Blend it: Whether your desired ombré is from the outside in or the inside out, we recommend you use a mini Beautyblender. This effortless little helper seamlessly blends a vivid colour with your natural colour. Remember to blot, don’t rub.

To complement the ombré look, apply a light metallic lid - it's ok to pair a dramatic eye with a bold lip, as long as you ensure it's complementary, not overbearing - and the eye pallet should have an iridescent finish. To keep the look current, opt for one eye shade that holds its own, so shading and blending unnecessary. So completes the modern and feminine evening look.
