The Best BB + CC Creams – Reader Review

If you’re a lover of the no-makeup, Gigi Hadid-inspired fresh face you’ve no doubt discovered BB and CC cream. A best friend to those of us that like a natural finish, these lightweight, blemish-erasing creams compliment your complexion, as opposed to caking on the coverage and hiding it. These creams work like a skin airbrush, but with a soft touch – light formulations, big results. Brisbane-based Beauticater, Elyse Goyen, knows all too well that a thick slick of foundation is no friend when living in the hotter, northern temperatures (even in colder seasons) and so curated the best CCs and BBs, with glowing results.

For the luminosity lover

Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF 35

“You’re likely to spot this BB cream on must-have lists on beauty pages internationally – and with good reason. Of all the products I trialled, this was my favourite, thanks to its lightweight feel and incredible coverage. I’m all about the glow and Bobbi Brown’s BB Cream is luminous to say the least. It went on smoothly and absorbed quickly into my skin – leaving me feeling fresh and hydrated (minus the shine factor). When applied with a stippling brush and finished with powder, I got 12 hours’ wear – a perfect day-to-night solution for that after work soiree.”

For daily luxury

Diorskin Nude BB Crème

“If you love a lightweight BB cream, but need great coverage this is your new go-to. Diorskin’s Nude BB Creme provides a foundation like natural finish, without the caked on feeling. The push pump means you won’t overdo it (which I’m regularly guilty of) and I found it blended easily and evenly with my skin tone. It smells amazing and didn’t irritate my sensitive skin – a total win find.”

For a post-summer skin saviour

ModelCo BB+ Cream

“This cream is ultra lightweight and goes on like a dream. With an array of included anti-oxidants, it left my skin feeling dewy, hydrated and set quickly, covering any imperfections. With an SPF 30+ and a built-in primer, this BB cream is all you need to give skin all round great coverage. Whether you’re looking for something to tide you over on ‘no makeup’ days or as a light base before going out Model Co have you, literally, covered.”

For a matte finish

Benefit Big Easy

“If you’re a fan of the matte finish, Benefit’s Big Easy is definitely for you. It goes on as a creamy and smooth liquid and dries to a soft-touch powder, ideal for those with oily or shiny skin. As someone who suffers from dry spots, I was concerned about how this product would take to my skin but found the liquid spread easily and evenly. Once applied, it felt light and velvety on the skin. It provided a beautiful medium matte finish and was a dreamy foundation substitute.”

For seriously sensitive skin

Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream

“Clinique’s Moisture Surge CC Cream is perfect for achieving a natural glow. It blends nicely into the skin, lightly hydrating and colour correcting. My skin is extremely sensitive and I find a lot of products sting the area around my eyes – but this product was the exception. Whilst it felt slightly sticky upon application, once on my skin it was incredibly soft and smooth. Great for lightly covering blemishes, imperfections and dark circles.”

For BB on a budget

Rimmel BB Cream Radiance

Rimmel BB Cream Radiance, $12.95

Rimmel BB Cream Radiance, $12.95

“This has got to be one of the best budget BB creams on the market. It’s feathery and lightweight, lasts all day and leaves you with a natural healthy glow. The label on Rimmel’s BB Cream Radiance states it’s 9 in 1 – priming, smoothing, concealing and much more. My skin felt lightly hydrated, without feeling oily. This BB cream is perfect for the weekends or those who like a barely-there look day-to-day.”

For hot vacations away

Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream

“This product is called Perfect CC Cream for good reason: it’s light, luminous and long lasting. Bourjois 123 really hit the coverage-nail on the head with this oh-so-magical CC cream. The smallest amount goes a long way and, when set with a dust of powder, lasts all day, giving a healthy looking finish. My favourite thing about this cream is its staying power, which saw me looking fresh faced in the midst of a Queensland heat wave. If you’re heading to a tropical paradise during the Australian cold months, this is your go-to product.”

For fresh faced beauty

Smashbox Camera Ready CC Cream

“Perfect for the weekends, this cream delivers a natural radiant finish that provides just enough coverage to hide any little flaws. Smashbox Camera Ready CC Cream is ideal for any woman lusting after that barely there fresh faced look. Feeling nearly weightless on the skin, I found this CC cream reduced the appearance of redness around my nose, leaving me looking like an off-duty Karlie Kloss.”

For an ultimate hydration hit

Garnier BB Cream

“Garnier’s BB Cream is perfect for anyone with dry skin. It’s super hydrating and leaves your face feeling supple and plump, without the oily sheen (ideal for the windy and dry winter ahead). This BB cream provides a light and smooth veil, letting your skin shine through with a healthy fresh glow.”
