We’ve all seen pose-perfect pics on Instagram… So why then, when we hit the switch screen, do we look like a selfie cat? You don’t need to have a glam squad and a personal photographer handy to pull of a great selfie though. According to YouTube beauty vlogger Jaclyn Hill, it’s all about one simple beauty trick…  Highlighting. Ready, set, selfie..

START WITH HYDRATED SKIN…

Apply a hydrating body moisturiser to your shoulders, décolletage and neck area. Once absorbed, apply a highlighter of your choice – shimmer lotion, dusting powder, creme highlighter – to the same areas.

FOR FULL BODY SHOTS…

Highlight the centre of your legs to make them appear longer.  This well-placed highlighting gives your body a glow and contour that’s works to create shape with the depth of a phone camera. Layering multiple shades of champagne, gold, and peach toned highlighters create a dimensional and sun-kissed look.

It may be hard to believe that your newsfeed filled with beautiful photos aren’t all credited to decorative filters and ideal lighting, and it’s totally attainable in a very easy way. Just be sure not to apply too close to your clothing to avoid any product transferring surfaces.

But, don’t just take our word for it… Here’s Jaclyn’s video:

Wow, what a process! Don’t know if I have time for that before taking a quick selfie but definitely makes an obvious difference
