You don’t have to spend a lot to have a beauty collection fit for a professional. Case in point: we had a snoop through celebrity makeup artist Yolanda Lukowski’s kit and spied a host of bargain buys - that are on as heavy rotation as their high-end counterparts. From the mascara for killer lashes in no time flat, to the foundation she could never part with, these are Yolanda’s budget-friendly beauty faves.

FIRST BASE

It’s a makeup artist kit stalwart, so we weren’t surprised to unearth this cult classic from Yolanda’s foundation collection. “I’m a big fan of the Revlon Colorstay foundation, especially in summer,” she shares. “When it gets really hot, I find that it’s one of the few foundations that doesn’t slide off – and it’s such a good price.”

NEW PRODS ON THE BLOCK

While some of Yolanda’s faves have stood the test of time, there are some newcomers that have already won their way into her kit. “L’Oréal has a brand new mascara called Paradise that I love,” says Yolanda. “It’s amazing – it gives thick, black, lashes and is perfect in just two coats.”

PERFECT POLISH

While some cheaper varnishes just dish up a range of drab and unappealing shades, Yolanda has found one with killer colours to match its fab price point. “Revlon have amazing nail polishes. The ColorStay Gel Envy ones are actually brilliant – they last a week and they don’t chip,” Yolanda says. “And such good shades – they’re not those ugly, nanna colours, they’re actually really modern.”

EYE TO EYE

You don’t need to splash out on an expensive eyeliner to ensure you’re getting a quality product. Yolanda rates this budget buy as highly as some of its pricier peers – if not higher. “The Covergirl Perfect Blend Eye Pencil is a good one – it’s soft and it comes with a smudger, which some budget brands don’t have,” she explains. “It’s just as good as an expensive brand, but cheaper.”
