Lisa Hamilton has an eye for all things beautiful. The physiotherapist by trade fell into the blogging sphere by accident, and the rest is fashionable history. Her Blog, See Want Shop, brings a life of fashion, health and travel to colourful life. Both Blog and 260k-follower-rich Instagram feed boast minimalist, unfussy fashion, idyllic nooks and crannies in far away places, fancy florals and an iridescent rainbow of fresh juices in jars; all packaged beautifully with a light and bright aesthetic.

The lovely Lisa opened the doors of her light-filled and fun apartment in Melbourne’s trendy Northcote, sharing her beauty regime, funny makeup moments and her advice for the perfect Instagram feed.

“I very much fell into blogging,

I certainly never set out expecting to have what I do today. I moved to London in 2011 on a working holiday and decided to create an Instagram account to share my travelling photos with everyone back home. From here I started gathering a following, an interest in my shopping expeditions, outfits and it very much grew organically from then.

I’ve always had an interest in fashion

But certainly never expected to be working in the industry. I love the flexibility and variability it entails. Every day is different and you can get so creative with your work. I also love how it has opened doors for me that I never thought I would walk through, as well as meeting and making some incredible friends.

My fave designers are Lover, Ellery, Viktoria & Woods, The Fifth Label, Asos, Cos, Chanel and Isabel Marant. [My] fave pieces are a new Chanel bag from Paris, a Lover dress, a pair of Isabel Marant heels and an Ellery blazer.

My advice for Instagram would be…

To use the square setting on your phone (no need to crop later), invest in some great photo editing apps like Afterlight and create unique, beautiful content that can really showcase who you are and what you are about.

a cool mix of classy and casual

a cool mix of classy and casual

My style is every day, classic, easy.

I like to invest money in a few key pieces such as a statement bag or great pair of jeans then build the rest of my outfit around it. I tend to wear minimal makeup with a messy topknot or beachy curls. My look is ‘girl next door’. If it takes me more than half an hour to get ready then I’m not interested!

I like to wear neutral, bronze makeup colours and keep it very simple.

My beauty look is minimal. This is all I normally wear on a day-to-day basis if I am working or running errands. At night I will wash my face again, pop on a night cream like Grown Alchemist and an eye serum as well as a blemish fighting cream like La Clinica Clear Skin Intensive Spot Serum on any trouble spots.

On a night out I will pop on foundation and bronzer.

I am constantly mixing my face products to get the right colour and thickness. For example mixing in my Mecca Cosmetica Tinted Moisturiser with my foundation for coverage that’s somewhere in between. I also like to fill in my eyebrows or use a brow mascara like ModelCo for some structure. Luckily I have long eyelashes so a couple of coats of Kevin Aucoin mascara normally do me fine. I am a massive Bobbi Brown fan. I went to one of her events once and it was so amazing to see how she worked. She has created an absolute dynasty.

I am constantly using treatments in my hair

And will pop one in at least once a week if not more. Something like Olaplex, Moroccan Oil or Eleven works great. I also take Silica everyday which helps keep my hair strong and healthy. I also try to avoid using tools on it too much, I probably only curl or straighten it once a week maximum. Same goes for hair dryers, I prefer to let it dry naturally.

I remember being so obsessed with my mum’s eyelash curlers…

Mascaras and face creams. I used to always want to try them! I never really started using makeup until I was in high school though and even then it was very basic! I do remember in high school I became obsessed with coloured mascara. I used to wear it all the time. I look back at some of those photos and cringe!

When I was in primary school I saw my mum plucking her eyebrows once…

And wanted to try it for myself. Seeing as I didn’t have any tweezers, I used the next best tool I could think of – a pair of scissors. Next thing I know I have half an eyebrow and am bawling my eyes out. It was just before school photos too, hilarious!

I have the best facialist

At Clinica-Lase in Carlton. I used to constantly get hormonal breakouts but I now see her every six weeks for a range of treatments that have completely cleared up my skin. I get my brows done at Le Beaute Salon who are fantastic and for a spa treatment I just love Aurora Spa. They have the best steam room exfoliating treatment that I have every experienced in my life!

I usually relax with a candlelit bubble bath or a yoga class.

I exercise regularly. I like to do a mix of cardio, pilates and yoga. I try and get to the gym/studio four to five times a week. I also drink plenty of water and take multivitamins.”
