It gives pretty amazing results, but how long will you have to sit it out for? Naomi from Clear Skincare Clinics advises that skin will be quite red post-treatment, but this is completely normal and to be expected. This should dissipate overnight, but could stay around for two to four days (you might also experience some mild flakiness for up to a week).
Naomi’s advice? Reschedule important events for a day or so, but after that you should be fine.
If you care properly for your skin post-treatment, you can expect a better (and longer-lasting) result. After the Dermapen Skin Needling treatment, keep skin completely dry (i.e. no products or makeup) for the next six hours. This might feel tight and uncomfortable, but don’t worry, this is completely normal. After the six hours are up, you can cleanse the skin with cool water, if you like.
From the next day, it’s important to moisturise and apply a sunscreen to protect the skin. 48 hours after the treatment, you should introduce a copper peptide treatment morning and evening under your moisturiser – it helps accelerate healing and repair, as well as having anti-inflammatory and anti-ageing properties, too.
Basically, Naomi says you should treat your skin post-treatment like you would sunburn – avoid sun exposure or exercise, and steer clear of saunas and spas to limit bringing heat back to the area.
