I think the best thing about summer is that your beauty routine gets to put its feet up, too. When it’s hot you can sport bronzed skin with minimal makeup and it’s ‘fresh’. You can dress up an all-white outfit by just adding a bright lip, and you can go for a swim in the ocean, let your hair air dry and call it ‘texture’.

To celebrate the launch of Witchery’s new beauty collection, I chose four low-maintenance looks from the fashion range and worked them back with some easy makeup looks. Here’s how to do effortless style and summer beauty (read: more time for beach).

1. Team bronze eyes and nude nails with neutrals

WITCHERY GEL NAIL POLISH IN SAHARA, WITCHERY CRYSTAL TWIST RING IN ROSE GOLD AND WITCHERY GRAND PALETTE

The loose-fit drawstring harem pant is such a smart yet relaxed look. Worn with no-fuss nude nails, a silk tank and sporty slides it can translate easily from a day running errands to a stylish choice for a sunset barbecue. To take it into evening simply add a bronze smoky eye and a statement necklace.

After seasons of nail art, the nude manicure is back in the fashion spotlight. I love this matte flesh-toned shade – it works with everything in my wardrobe and is the perfect nude. This rose-gold ring would make a beautiful Christmas gift, too.

To create this smoky eye, line the eye with the Wind Up Liner and then follow with the bronze shade in the Grand Palette blending up towards the socket line. Take some of the gold shadow and blend it up to the brow bone.

2. Pair prints with a bright poppy pedicure

This palm leaf print skirt just screams summer and is perfect paired with a fresh white blouse and a poppy pedicure. It’s a great choice for a summer party or lunch with friends. A tropical print like this begs to be worn with bronzed skin, so I mixed the Bronzing Lotion with a dab of Shimmer Lotion and slathered it on my arms and legs.

Embrace brights and enhance your faux glow with a neon yellow pedicure. Keep toenails short and square and I would stick to toes only for a colour this bright. The yellow looks smoking hot against black shoes and slides.

3. Get creative with all white

An all white ensemble is given a graphic lift with sections of black and gold. (The luxe summer wedge is going on my Christmas wish list!) When you’re paring back your fashion you can afford to have a bit more fun with your makeup. I love the idea of adding a flash of coloured eyeliner to the outer edges of your lashes.

To create coloured liner, simply dip an eyeliner brush into water and wet down a bright eyeshadow to turn it into liquid. Layer it on close the lashline, then apply lashings of black mascara.

4. Metallics love bright lips

A silver foil tank is a fresh option for evening or dressed-up daytimes and it looks super modern worn with a bright orange or fuschia lip. A punchy pout is easiest way to dress up your makeup and you can throw just the lipstick in your clutch for instant high-impact touch ups.

The Witchery lipstick is so highly pigmented that you can slick it on straight from the tube, but if you want to get really precise then grab the creamy lip pencil and line the lips first. I lined my lips with Lip Crème Pencil in Sunset then coloured them in before applying the Lipstick in Sunset over the top to really pump up the colour and make it last. Add a pop of peach colour to your cheeks with the Cheek Palette – it has a luminiser so you can put the pop of colour on the apples of the cheeks and the shimmer shade along the tops of your cheekbones.
