The shimmer dust of the Met Gala may have settled… But as we recover from aw’ing at the incredible fashion and outrageous beauty, we find ourselves taking note of the attainable looks from the night. So, while we would love to see the look on our barista’s face if we grabbed our morning coffee with a silver’d head a la Cara Delevingne, we’re much more interested in the beauty wins we can copy. To counter the extraordinary couture, here’s how to mimic the easy to emulate elegant looks of the night of nights…

Lily-Rose Depp

Makeup artist Kate Lee used Chanel makeup for her fellow brand ambassador Lily-Rose Depp in her amazing fuchsia Chanel gown, and opted for a dramatic eye. She told Hollywood Reporter, “Whenever the theme for the Met Ball is released, every makeup artist gets super excited because it is an opportunity to be a little more creative. But like any red carpet event, you have to do what’s right for the dress so someone feels beautiful.” She lined Lily-Rose’s waterlines with Stylo Yeux Long Lasting Waterproof Eyeliner in Noir Intense and built on the double cat eye look with Chanel Calligraphie de Chanel Longwear Intense Cream Eyeliner in Hyper Black and Pinceau Lèvres Biseauté Angled Lip Brush. “I didn’t want to detract from the hard, sharp line at the bottom,” Lee said. “I just wanted to keep it as a graphic black line.”

Selena Gomez

Makeup artist Hugo Vanngo used all Marc Jacobs beauty products to obtain Gomez’s stunning look. Vanngo stated “I was originally going to do something very soft on Selena Gomez for the Met Gala – the twist was the bright pink eyeliner… I thought it would be a fun punch of colour.” Maybe the magenta cat eye is a little too much for a night on the town but obtaining Gomez’s luscious lip colour is easy.

Vanngo put New Nudes In The Mood and (P)outliner Nudiest on her lips for a simple tonal put palette. First, Vanngo softly outlined the lips with the liner then he applied the sheer gel lipstick. This tactic gives the lips a plump and natural looking glow without be OTT.

“I was originally going to do something very soft on #SelenaGomez for the #MetGala—the twist was the bright pink eyeliner I came across while sorting through colors. I thought it would be a fun punch of color.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ After applying #CoconutPrimer, I buffed Genius Gel into the skin. I added luminosity to the skin by blending Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter on top of the cheekbones, the bridge of the nose, and on the Cupid’s bow. I followed with a little Remedy Concealer Pen under the eyes, and Re(Marc)able Concealer wherever a bit of extra coverage was wanted. To set, I used Perfection Powder through the t-zone. I then dusted the high points of the face with O!Mega Bronzer and added a swirl of Air Blush to the apples of the cheeks.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ For the bright pop of color on Selena’s eyes, I drew Matte Highliner in Popular along the top lashline, into the crease, and onto the outer third of the eyelid, extending outward. I blended this into the shape I wanted with a brush. I then applied the soft pink shades from Style Eye-Con No. 7 Palette in The Lover as a wash across the entire eye, and along the bottom lashes. The lashes were thickened and defined with a coat of Velvet Noir Mascara on top, and just slightly on the bottom with Feather Noir Ultra-skinny Mascara.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ For lips, I wanted to keep the same tonal color story. I used one of my favorite colors from New Nudes. Before applying this, I softly outlined lips with (P)outliner.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ For a glow on the body, I went back and added #MarcGlowStick on the collarbones, shoulders, arms and the legs.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ A spritz of Coconut Setting Mist on the way out the door, and she’s good to go!” – @hungvanngo, #MarcJacobsBeauty Global Artistry Ambassador.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Face:⠀⠀ -#CoconutPrimer⠀ -Genius Gel Foundation⠀ -Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter⠀⠀ -Remedy Pen⠀⠀ -Re(Marc)able Concealer⠀⠀ -Perfection Powder ⠀⠀ -Re(cover) Perfecting Coconut Setting Mist⠀ Cheeks:⠀⠀ -O!Mega Bronzer in Tantric⠀⠀ -#AirBlush in Lush & Libido⠀⠀ Brows:⠀ -Brow Wow Pencil ⠀⠀ -Brow Tamer Gel⠀⠀ Eyes:⠀⠀ -#Matte Highliner in Popular⠀⠀ Style Eye-Con No. 7 The Lover⠀⠀ -#VelvetNoir ⠀⠀ -Feather Noir Mascara⠀⠀ Lips:⠀ -(P)outliner Nudeist⠀ -#NewNudes in In The Mood

Kim Kardashian West

Stepping away from a gaudy aesthetic, Kim went pared back and plus 1 free. Whenever you admire Kim’s beauty looks always look to Mario Dedivanovic who is a genius in the art of minimalism, with impact. Kim’s glow at the Met Gala was accomplished by Dedivanovic primarily utilising Chanel makeup.

For her shimmery eyes, Dedivanovic applied Chanel Ombre Première Longer Powder Eyeshadow in Visone and Sable. Blending the two colours made Kim’s eyes pop in an understated way. He also used Chanel Le Crayon Khôl Intense Eye Pencil in Noir. This liner is easy to use and gives eyes a bold outline.

Alexa Chung

Her soft waves were effortless and stunning. Hair stylist George Northwood framed Chung’s face with the easy curls. As an ambassador for Redken, Northwood swears by their products. To give Chung’s curls some texture, Northwood used Redken Quick Tease. The product helps to not only style the hair but also works as a hairspray. Apply the product at the roots and work it into the hair to give volume and texture to your curls.

Miranda Kerr

The always glowing Miranda Kerr gave her followers an inside pre-makeup tip via her Instagram. Her luminous skin is all thanks to her #1 beauty product, Noni Glow Face Oil from her skincare range, Kora Organics.

Apply this product by pressing it into freshly cleansed skin, using your fingertips, allowing it to soak into the skin for about 10 minutes before putting on your makeup. The oil provides ultimate moisture which helps makeup to look even more radiant and, depending on your skin type, you can skip the moisturising cream step. The look? Glowing natural skin.
