For the sartorial set, Sydney’s fashion boutique Parlour X is the go-to for a formidably chic wardrobe, so it’s no surprise that its founder, Eva Galambos is style incarnate. We met up in her immaculately curated home in Sydney’s eastern suburbs - where she lives with creative director fiancé, Michael Penny and her two children, Alexa (7) and Paloma (3). Here's a sneak peek at her heavenly wardrobe, how she does minimalist beauty with maximum effect and her all-time favourite fragrance…

Individuality is really important to me…

…and I try to enforce that with my daughters. I want them to do what they love, not do things based on a trend. I want them to love aesthetics that connects with them personally. I think that was something that helped me as a child. The only adult figure in my life was my mum, so I had to be very self taught when it came to finding my style and who I want to be as a person. It’s good to be different and special, be compassionate and celebrate differences.

MONOCHROMATIC BEAUTY ESSENTIALS...

I only wear lipstick when I’m in Paris…

…and it’s only ever MAC Lady Danger – Paloma from Oscar Oscar put me onto it.  I have always loved the Parisian girl aesthetic, I really appreciate it and like to replicate that bold lip they do when I’m there. I don’t leave the house without my Shu Uemura eyelash curlerChanel mascara, and black liner. I use very few products, but they’re all beautiful – I’m really time poor so [a minimalist approach] is key for me. I need to get a full day out of my morning application with a quick touch up for an evening out after work. I love my Bao Bao Issey Miyake make up bag.

I’ve been using La Mer skincare for more than 10 years.

It’s the only brand I use on my skin – and it is undoubtedly the best in the world. I travel so much, the flying and different climates are really drying, but I slather myself with the Ultrarich Cream and my skin survives the harsh treatment of my hectic schedule.

NEVER A TREND CHAMELEON, EVA HAS ALWAYS FOLLOWED HER HEART WHEN IT COMES TO STYLE

In my late teens I was a flaming redhead…

… and then I went jet-black and then platinum blonde. I get it from my mum – she was a very natural beauty and didn’t wear a lot of makeup so she made up for it in hair changes! She went through every colour and style, even the perm. I’m a bit the same. But I tend to stick to lighter shades because I think it suits me on the outside, but darker hair definitely suits my personality more. I’m quite attached to how I feel when we’re talking beauty – everything I do is creative and beauty is an extension of that, which in turn is an extension of me.

Chanel Coco was the first perfume my mother ever gave me…

…and I only wear it on my birthday, especially if I’m seeing mum on that day. My everyday fragrance is Comme des Garcon CDG, but I recently discovered Chanel No. 5 L’Eau and I have started wearing it daily.

I also swear by Chanel make-up, especially their foundations and tinted moisturiser.

A FEW OF HER MOST FAVOURITE THINGS: CHANEL AND CELINE

LITTLE PALOMA FOLLOWING IN HER MUM'S STYLE FOOTSTEPS

My daughter gets perfume from the Tooth Fairy.

It started when we were on holiday and she lost one of her teeth. Normally, we leave fairy dust, but I didn’t have any on me, and I had all of these perfume samples (I get given quite a lot through work) so I left her a few instead. Now she’s got quite a collection of little fragrances, she loves them and it’s something a little bit more special for her.

I’ve been collecting bags for 20 years.

My collection of bags are displayed in my dressing room. It’s my haven – I love the space. My daughters often join me to help me chose my outfit for the day and to play dress ups of course! The Sangle bags from Celine are my favourite, they hold my laptop, make up bag, phone and so much more. The handle is the perfect fabric and length so it never falls off my shoulder.

A MOST COVETED CLOSET...

STATEMENT ART IS A FEATURE THROUGHOUT EVA'S HOME

I am a huge art lover…

…and Adam Cullen is one of my favourite artists. I’m a great supporter of arts and the Museum of Contemporary Art. This piece in my dining room has great sentimental value for both myself and Michael – we love that it’s in a room of our home that allows us to enjoy it every mealtime.

I also framed the invitation to Alexander McQueen’s 2005 show. It’s my favourite image in our bedroom. It depicts Kate Moss in a hologram. I had this framed in Perspex on both sides so you can pick it up off the wall and move it to view Kate in all her glory.
