With a sweeping smile and that sparkle in her eye, it’s hard not to fall in love with Anna Heinrich. Engaged to sports chiropractor and fitness entrepreneur Tim Robards (whom she met on The Bachelor) , the blonde is not just a pretty face. A lawyer by trade, she was on the Bar long before her days on reality TV. With style in spades, Anna oozes glamour and is also an avid fitness fanatic and ambassador for the Nike NTC Tour Sydney. She's also put her eye for style to use, starting a lifestyle, fashion and beauty blog LoveAlwaysAnna. While reality TV is often a far cry from reality, in person Anna is effervescent, warm and possesses that kind of spirit that lights up a room.

The gorgeous Anna invited us to her family home in Sydney’s leaf-lined Paddington. Under the beautifully high ceilings, we chatted about beauty, diet and fitness. The self-proclaimed makeup aficionado was teeming with tips and didn’t hold back when it came to sharing everything about her abundant beauty routine.

“I’ve loved makeup ever since I was young.

My mum has always looked after herself and always looked her best at every occasion. I will admit I do wear makeup to the gym – but I wear makeup no matter where I’m going! How much I put on depends on where I’m going and what I’m doing, but I always have and always will wear makeup. I’ve tested out so many different products, and for me it’s about ease of application for doing things on the run and long-lasting products, that’s really important.

ANNA FOLLOWED HER MUM'S UNAPOLOGETIC DEDICATION TO MAKEUP

"IT'S A CRIME NOT TO PRIME" RINGS TRUE FOR THE VIBRANT BLONDE'S BEAUTY RULES

For everyday makeup, I always put on primer…

At the moment I love the Napoleon AutoPilot. Before I used primer I could feel [foundation] attaching to my skin in a way that you don’t want it to. Primer just goes on so smoothly and the foundation isn’t touching my skin directly. I absolutely love Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundationand have used it for so long. It costs a lot more so it’s not something I will use everyday, just for special occasions. It’s $90 here, so when I went to Europe (and it was half the price) I stocked up! I’ve also been using Nars foundation. This is the foundation I put on everyday and it’s quite good coverage without looking cakey.

Before I do foundation, I’ll always do my eyes…

so my foundation will be fresh and you won’t have anything that has dropped onto it from your eyes. I also got this Benefit Stay Don’t Stray to put on under my eye shadow. Because the ease of it going on is so important, I need it to go on smoothly and for it to be long-lasting, so I put that on before I put on my eye shadow. I carry this Dior eye shadow palette everywhere, but it looks disgusting inside! The main colours I want are a neutral shine to put on the whole of my eyelid and then I’ll get a brown and do it in the creases of my eyes. The Urban Decay Naked3 Eyeshadow Palette has all the kinds of earthy colours I like that I use everyday.

ANNA'S NUMBER ONE MAKEUP TRICK: APPLY EYES BEFORE FOUNDATION

IT'S ALL ABOUT CONTOURING; ON THE RED CARPET AND IN THE COURTROOM

The Benefit Gimme Brow gel is the best thing ever.

I used to have a good eyebrow pencil, but now that I have this, it’s so easy and quick – particularly if I’m running to an event after work – it’s one of my favourite things. I use YSL Touch Eclat down my nose, under my eyes and sometimes above my lip, I love that. I love this Hourglass Radiant Bronze for contouring, and I pretty much do that at the end of everything. I contour down the sides of my nose, up on my forehead towards my hair line and I always make sure I put it down my neck because I hate it when it’s not blended. Even when I have my hair in a pony I make sure the back of my neck’s not white – you don’t want to put too much bronzer there but you want to make sure it’s not brown here and white there!

Blending is so important.

I absolutely love blending and making it look as natural as possible because I love makeup but I don’t want to look like I’ve got a lot on. I used to put bronzer all over, cake it all over everything. I used to have really long hair extensions and they were absolutely hideous! I look back and go, “What was I thinking?!” It was like a weave you couldn’t get out. We thought we were cool and my actual hair colour was so different – it was horrendous.

SHE IS A CREATURE OF BEAUTY HABIT, OPTING FOR FAITHFUL FAVOURITES OVER TREND ITEMS

When you’ve finished brushing your teeth, brush your lips.

I only recently heard that and started doing it and now my lips are starting to feel softer. I wear the Nars Dolce Vita everyday and I love it. I had never worn a lot of lipstick before but I feel like my lips are getting dryer and now I have to every day. I’ve always worn MAC Lady Danger, I’ve had about 20 of these. It’s only for special occasions, but I’ll always have that in my makeup bag. Carolina Herrera 212 VIP is my ultimate favourite fragrance. I’ve had it for a couple of years now – I get worried when I take it overseas, I hope they don’t think it’s something else!

It’s really bad, but sometimes I have two makeup bags in my handbag, and it’s so heavy!

When I take my makeup bags out, my bag is so light! People are like, “Why don’t you downgrade to a smaller foundation?” But, I need to be prepared and I need my makeup! I got this cute The Daily Edited bag and I’m trying to fit all my makeup in there, but it’s really difficult. I’m going to do my best and just put the essentials for everyday in there first. Sometimes I don’t even need to retouch, but I always try and look my best.

ANNA'S MAKEUP BAG NEEDS A BAG UNTO ITSELF

ALL THAT GLITTERS; THE CAMILLA AND MARC FRINGED HEELS WERE A BIRTHDAY GIFT FROM TIM, ALONGSIDE A KATE SPADE BAG

I do have eyelash extensions and have had them since I was about 17.

I go to a girl called Blanca and get them about once a month. I’ve been going there since they started – at school everyone was like, “What have you got on?” I love them, but as a warning to people who haven’t had them: you have to be dedicated. My eyes do get irritated every so often. Some people like to pick them, but if you don’t keep maintaining them they can look a bit manky. I am officially dedicated after ten years or so!

ANNA ADMITS TO SLEEPING IN HER EYESHADOW ON OCCASION TO SAVE DOING IT AGAIN

I don’t do a whole lot with my skin.

I make sure I take my makeup off, but there are some occasion where I keep my eye shadow on and it stays in place for the next day so I can wear it the next day. I’m pretty proud of that! For some reason it doesn’t move. I’ll always redo my foundation – sometimes if a makeup artist has done my makeup and I like my eyes, they will last up to two or three days. Some people will wake up with it all over their face but maybe because I’ve got the fake eyelashes I’m really careful with sleeping, it works for me. Apart from that I don’t do a whole lot. But, I recently got the Clarisonic and I’ve been using that.

FAR FROM HER YOUNGER DAYS OF CHEAP HAIR EXTENSIONS...

I love label.m dry shampoo

…it also gives you volume. You basically scrunch your hair up and it gives you an amazing shape. I use a lot of ID and label.m products – their products are the best for me. I don’t wash my hair a whole lot – once or twice a week. I don’t have greasy hair though – my hair’s quite dry. These ID Secret Hair Bands are perfect for when you’re doing makeup because they don’t leave dints in your hair and doesn’t ruin your blowdry. Toni and Guy do my cut, but my girlfriend has been doing my hair for ten plus years, she’s the best. I got freaked out back at school – one time I asked them to trim it and they cut it to my shoulder and I burst out into tears – it seems a bit ridiculous now, but it was really traumatising! I love bobs on girls, they look really sophisticated, but I’m really scared!

I rarely go on diets.

I eat everything; maybe anchovies are the only thing I don’t like! I eat pretty well the majority of the time, but I love my lollies, cakes and chocolate – I probably eat chocolate everyday. My lunch will be healthy, my breakfast will be healthy and normally dinner is healthy – unless I have some chips on the side – I love chips! I also don’t take any supplements – I think you can get that all from food if you eat right. My mum is an amazing cook, so my diet has changed since moving out. First we’d have entrees, then we’d have dinner, then we’d have a huge dessert – so my boyfriend Tim and I come over once a week for that and that’s our massive guilty pleasure!

ANNA BOASTS A BANGING BOD IN KOOKAI TOP AND SKIRT

ANNA AND TIM KEEP EACH OTHER ACTIVE WITH A JOINT LOVE OF FITNESS AND THE OUTDOORS

Tim has just brought out a program, the Robards Method…

…and he trains me a fair bit. It’s all body-weighted exercises so you can go out and basically do it anywhere because you’re using your body weight. Sometimes I don’t like to listen to him because I get on my high horse. He knows so much more than I do, it’s just me being really stubborn and I don’t want to do 500 push-ups! I also do a lot of Pump classes at the gym, and I do Step. I used to do Step with my mum a lot when I lived at home. I also love walking or playing tennis – we’re doing lots of sports lately. Whenever we get an opportunity we’ll walk down to the beach. It’s great having an active boyfriend because if you surround yourself with people like that it makes you more motivated and gets you moving.

I am not a huge fan of spray tans.

I don’t like the smell of them, I’ve probably only had about a handful in my life. I do get them for big events, but for everyday wear or if you’re going out during the week or even on the weekend,  Sugarbaby bronze radiance cream is so good. It’s about $20 and it’s one of the best products because it stays on, unless you scrub it off. It goes on evenly, but I mix it with a bit of moisturiser so it goes on even more easily. I’ve used that for probably five plus years.

SHE KNOWS SHE'S NEVER FULLY DRESSED WITHOUT A MEGAWATT SMILE

I’ve recently been using these Oral B 3D Whitestrips.

I did do a campaign for them but I tested it out before that – I would never do something that I didn’t believe in. I’m no longer an ambassador, but I would highly recommend these to anyone wanting to whiten their teeth. I’ve had strips that I used years ago but I would get really sensitive teeth from them, and a lot of people do – these don’t give you sensitive teeth. They are easy and you barely feel like they’re on. This is the first time this year I’ve had an electric toothbrush and I love it! It gets all the way right behind my teeth and gets everywhere! I wouldn’t go back to a normal toothbrush now, even though I didn’t want one, I absolutely love it now.”
