The Beauticate Christmas Gift Guide

With Christmas just a sleigh ride away, we are glazing our hams with honey, sprinkling spice and pouring peel into our puddings and pricking our pine needles with gaudy baubles. However tinsel and turkey aside, it all comes down to the fat man in the hat, as what appears under our trees often reigns supreme. And so, our frantic shopping dash begins, however battling the incensed crowds the night before Christmas is a definite Beauticate no-no. You (and Mr Claus) can breathe a sigh of relief as we have gifts to suit those nice (and maybe naughty) boys and girls, mums and dads, besties and all just a hop, jingle and click away.

Whether your gesture of giving is OTT or petite, we’ve got enough presents to stuff your stocking silly (but oh-so chicly), because, this is all we want for Christmas. Ho ho ho - it's time to deck the halls, the Beauticate way.

Gift this goddess (or a certain Mrs Claus) an opulent offering; our stylish take on gold, frankincense and myrrh. Rich jewel tones of ruby, rose quartz and red garnet make for sumptuous present giving, as does the unsurpassed epitome of luxury, gold. Our pick of the designer bunch; Charlotte Tilbury for face, Comme Des Garcons for fragrance, Gucci for toes, Lanvin for lobes and a sprinkling of Dolce and Gabbana magic on top; for textbook angel looks.

For a man who knows his Aesop to his Zaha Hadid, these gifts shout ‘special’ from the (Christmas) treetops. Monochromatic with a slice of red (tis the season after all), let him kick it in Y-3 sneakers, push the pedal to the metal with Papillionare wheels, beat it up with Bose, scent his space with Tom Dixon and wrap it all up with a Cor Sin Labe Doli bow-tie. We’ll cheers our brandy-soaked pudding to that.

For perhaps the most special lady in our lives, gift mum a present of the highest proportion. From trendy to tame, this selection of goodies will light her Christmas fire. In elegant hues of black, white and gold (with a pop of festive red), Fornasetti’s fabulous Baci Candle will be a wick hit, Gift Boutique's Soiree Noire plates prove both practical and modish, Zimmermann’s Lotte One-Piece is a chic cover-up to battle the heat, Lancome and Prada’s gilded Christmas Editions of cult-favourites are a merry addition, an Age Protection Kit from skin saviours SK-II, and what cuter way to adorn the tree than with Bombki’s Little Makeover Set. We can smell the turkey already.

Dad’s often prove the hardest on the gift-giving scale, thus stick to neutral, earthy tones and timeless treats. Classicism is the way du jour, with old-school favourites like a D. R. Harris and Co. Shaving Set and Sandalwood Shaving Cream, a tortoiseshell Tom Ford Beard Comb, C. O. Bigelow Bay Rum Aftershave Balm, a Baxter of California WANT Les Essentiel de la Vie Grooming Set (the perfect all-rounder) and a vintage Hermes tie to add a soupçon of class. Bon-bons at the ready.

For those on the end of boyfriend troubles, sample sale lines and empty Rosé bottles, your bestie deserves a fun-filled thank-you. Punchy and perky; gift her with presents that are slightly kitsch and kooky (much like your friendship). A Lucy Folk Wild At Heart Cocktail Clutch (for those espresso martinis on New Years’ Eve), a colourful Shu Uemera brush set to paint her face (before you paint the town red), Byredo’s Limited Edition Figue Glaceé to perfume her pad (particularly good after a big night) and Maison Balzac’s Marble Glass Cloche to house it in, some Maison Margiela rose-tinted shades to battle the demons at breakfast, a Bec and Bridge sun hat to get shady with and some Mecca Cosmetica Air Kisses just cause. Christmas smooches all round.

These stocking-fillers lay testament to the fact that good things do come in small packages. Sprinkle your stockings with these petite (but pretty amazing) gifts, like Dior’s Holiday glittery polish and lipstick, Guerlain’s white-Christmas gloss, Jo Malone’s signature Christmas Cracker, MAC’s Enchanted Eve Collection, our all-time favourite Fresh Pine Needles candle from Ecoya, Christie Nicolaides’ jade jewels, Aerin’s collection of mini fragrances, some raw Christmas chocolate from Pana and a Little Anna Wintour Doll by Kahri for those fashionable folk. Spread that Christmas cheer.

Kris Kringle is as important as angels and advent calendars (well maybe), pulling a name out of a (Santa) hat is a Christmas tradition from here to the North Pole. Gift friends, family members and work colleagues shiny bits and bobs to make them smile; from Too Faced lipstick packs, This Works Sleep Plus Crackers, Lucy Folk Pearl Diver Friendship Bands, Kate Spade Trinket Trays and some Palm Swimwear to get things sizzling this summer. Eggnog cocktails all round!
