You heard it here first: the reign of barely-there makeup is officially over. As seen recently during the catwalk cascade of fall/winter fashion weeks, our makeup is about to take a bold step. Without the threat of makeup melt-offs in summer heat, we’re excited to present (and use) our roundup of the fashion-week inspired new products hitting shelves this month. Think: high pigments, flawless coverage, intense lips and statement eyes…
Luscious, full and high-impact lashes like those seen on Kendall Jenner for the Christian Dior caught the coveting eye of every front rower (and beyond). The new ‘So Curl’ curling and fortifying mascara by Sisley Paris is your go-to to emulate this look. It has a unique curling lash brush that creates instant lash effect, minus the clumping. Feeling game? Try using Artemes luxury ready-to-wear lashes (the brand counts Nadia Bartel and Rita Ora as fans).
Intense colour and high-shine lips also stole the show at the Christian Dior show and, let’s face it, what better seasonal change pick-me-up than a return the pigmented pout? Much to our dismay, the Rogue Dior Lipstick in Poison used to create this look won’t be available to the public until August. In the meantime, you can use Dior Addict lipstick in Black Tie to recreate this look. Our tip is to also use a lip liner, before adding a slick of the new Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss to give it all a bit of life. In cooler months, it is also important to ensure you are using a creamy-based lipstick that is packed with nourishing qualities to ease dryness. This little beauty is hydrating and will leave your lips feeling soft and smooth. We’re already ‘adding to cart’.
EYES DO THE TALKING
True to form, Saint Laurent’s fall show included heavy, smoky and shadowy eyes that, lucky for us, can easily be translated into our everyday look. Mimic this trend by using the new YSL Couture Variation 10 Color Eye Palette in Tuxedo - a collection of light shades, medium and dark shades that be used for an array of eye looks without being OTT. The key? Keep other makeup to a minimum and let your eyes hold centre stage.
THE NEW BOLD BROW
It was definitely all about Gigi’s bold brows during Paris Fashion Week. Moving away from the frenetic form of Bambi and Cara before her, it’s about keeping the thickness, but with a more defined shape. The Eyeko London’s Brow Liner maintains professionally done brows, filling, plumping and reshaping to create a perfect line and just-enough fullness. Oh, and did we mention that this is a liquid liner?! Pretty slick, huh?
With April’s backdrop of ambers and cinnamons, it’s a good time to inject some deep colours into your life, nails first. After eyeing all the gorgeous talon trends these past weeks, we are currently obsessing over Chanel’s new Le Vernis Longwear Nail collection in Mythique 512 – a deep, alluring shade that we will be wearing all season long. So on point.
Cushion compacts are now are the new superstars of makeup application due to their ease-of-application, reduced mess and flawless finish. It’s little wonder they were a must have item in model Hailey Baldwin’s bag for catwalk ready touch-ups. Our favourite is Brown’s Skin Foundation Cushion Compact SPF 30– everything you can dream for in a foundation and more. No spills, no dirty fingers or separating liquid- just buildable flawless coverage that can be re-applied at anytime of the day.
