How To Remove Makeup with Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is one of the most versatile health and beauty products around... It’s the darling of the nutrition world (an easy to digest source of fatty acids that doesn’t change form when you heat it), is super economical (a giant tub is dirt cheap) and it smells like Fiji. With a multitude of beauty uses, from moisturizing the body to smoothing haywire hair, coconut oil also makes a kick-ass cleanser, according to Margaret Zhang. “Whenever I’m wearing makeup, I’ll use coconut oil to remove it, because then you don’t have to worry about moisturizing afterwards, and you go straight to bed. It’s so good for your skin and it smells good.” Here’s how she does it…

 

Step 1 – Scoop a small handful of coconut oil out of the jar. Usually it will be solid, unless it is a hot day.

Step 2 – Turn it into a liquid by rubbing it gently between your palms.

Step 3 – Smear it all over a dry face. Massage it into your eyes if you’ve got thick eye makeup on, “and let it sit for a second so everything dissolves,” adds Margaret.

Step 4 – Next, remove it – and your makeup. “Just grab a pad and wipe everything off,” she says.

Step 5 – Next, Then rinse your face with water. There will be some coconut oil residue, just massage it in for a moisturising treatment.

    Coconut is a codmogenic, it clogs pores. That is not true for everyone, obviously, but use coconut oil on your face and neck with caution. I am one of the people who breaks out from coconut oil.

    I love coconut oil for it’s traditional uses but I personally found that it makes my skin feel oily after using it to remove my makeup
