After 25 years, makeup extraordinaire Bobbi Brown has announced she will be departing from her beloved cosmetics brand at the end of this year.

According to a statement by the makeup mogul, she is leaving of her own accord saying that the brand’s 25th anniversary “made me realise it was time to start a new chapter and move on to new ventures”. The brand has been owned by Estée Lauder since 1995.

Bobbi Brown began with a line of lipsticks that unleashed a new era of natural-looking makeup (making her, arguably, the literal face of the 1990s). It’s a philosophy and aesthetic the pioneer has stood by religiously, previously voicing her opinion on her dislike towards the contouring movement. “It’s no secret that I am not a fan of contouring. Instead of looking like yourself, it looked artificial. My approach to beauty was the total opposite,” she wrote on her blog Everything Bobbi. “Makeup should be about celebrating—not altering—a woman’s features. This is one of the reasons I started Bobbi Brown.”

We look forward to seeing where Brown’s new ventures take her. Watch this space.
