Bold lips, a contemporary spin on classic old Hollywood glamour and luxe hair embellishments – we take a stroll down the best red carpets of the awards season thus far, and round up the looks to recreate. With inspiration aplenty, the beauty awards go to…

ALESSANDRA AMBROSIO

The supermodel and Victoria Secret veteran went for an amped up, night version of her signature bronzed-goddess look. Makeup Arstist Carolina Gonzalez used Charlotte Tilbury’s Flawless Filter Foundation and Filmstar Bronze & Blush Glow to achieve an airbrushed, sunkissed complexion. Eyes were defined with a cat-eye flick and individual lashes aplenty from Ardell.  The creamy, peachy, slightly overdrawn nude pout completed the ultimate va-va-voom look.

KATE BOSWORTH

Bosworth – or rather, MUA Pati Dubroff – nailed the simple glamour look by highlighting her already hypnotic heterochromia iridum (different coloured eyes) with warm, bronzy amber shadow blended up high to the brow bone. With hair completely slicked back in a low pony, the vibrant vermillion pout took centre stage. Recreate the matte lip look with the exact product used: Chanel’s Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick in 64 First Light. You’re welcome.

MARGOT ROBBIE

The newly appointed Chanel ambassador, Best Actress nominee and Aussie golden girl stuck to subtle makeup as to not distract from her embellished gown; matching barely-there rosy blush and lippy, and a smoked out, metallic taupe shadow on the lower lashline. Donning a brand new lob, Margot’s locks were perfectly undone with a slight wave and worn with an effortless tuck behind the ear.

TAYLOR HILL

A modern take on old Hollywood glamour, the model channelled her inner Audrey Hepburn, wispy side swept fringe and all – a striking resemblance, no? Never afraid to push beauty boundaries, Hill’s Makeup Artist/genius Hung Vanngo brought back the classic Hepburn-esque beauty but with a twist: full, straight arches, punchy coral lips and an exaggerated graphic cat eye.

LUPITA NYONG’O

Elegant as ever, Nyong’o swapped her cobalt blue shadow (donned during the day) for blown out, burgundy lids paired with glossy salmon-hued lips. The pièce de résistance taking home all the beauty points, however, was that exquisite, sculpted updo. Taking inspiration from traditional Rwandan Amasunzu hairstyles, hair guru Vernon Francois wove gold thread into three tall, asymmetric braids, resulting in what can only be described as gilded gorgeousness. Even hair can be art.

OLIVIA MUNN

Forever a beauty frontrunner, Munn kept it simple; neatly groomed brows, generously applied blush (instead of bronzer) in a flushed hue, fluttery lashes and a luminous, multidimensional plum pout using Chanel’s 102 Palpitante lipstick. A glossy blow wave was all that’s needed to bring home the perfectly polished look.

MILLIE BOBBY BROWN

She may be just 13 years old, but Brown is already a red carpet pro. No doubt the most fun beauty look of the night, the Stranger Things actress/coolest teen alive was spotted with the beauty look of our childhood dreams; space buns secured with satin bows, pink nail art and a bright, candy-hued lipstick.

YARA SHAHIDI

A killer combo of glossy lids AND lips – no doubt this is Shahidi’s best beauty look yet. Note the luminous skin, simple black mani and those textured, gravity-defying natural curls. Très chic indeed.

LADY GAGA

A style icon no doubt, Gaga proved she is unafraid to apply her characteristically daring and creative flair to her beauty looks, too. Eyes were made starry and striking with a heavy application of midnight black liner and glitter shadow, but it was that intricate, corset-esque laced braid that remained the talk of the (beauty) town. Perfectly paired with OTT oversized chandelier earrings.

HAILEE STEINFELD

One of the most memorable makeup moments of the year (thus far). Steinfeld stunned in mermaid inspired beauty – ‘90s side swept, undone hair and ‘80s smoked-out, peacock eyeshadow. MUA Mary Phillips made the look sultry, not scary, by keeping the rest of the makeup subdued with bronzed skin and unassuming peach lipgloss. Definitely one (to attempt) to recreate for the next girls night out.

ZOE KRAVITZ

A few of our favourite things: fluffy-yet-manicured brows, the pairing of kitten eyes with a staple red lip, and an adorable smattering of faux-freckles. Made even more striking with emerald statement earrings and a pixie crop, Kravitz was all sorts of cool-girl perfection.

KERRY WASHINGTON

Washington served up a major beauty statement with a vibrant eye look taken straight from the runway. Eyes were lined all the way around, tiny wing included, with an electric purple liner – Pantone’s colour of the year, Ultra Violet, no less. Side swept beachy waves and a dab of lipgloss was all that was needed to compliment her sequin gown (Studio 54 vibes, anyone?)
