Summer is all about creating looks that are as effortless and beautiful as the environment around us, so for more time spent relaxing, throw some of these hair trends in to your weekly routine. We’ve turned to our favourite girls of Instagram to see the best tress-shortcuts come beach and cocktail time - minus the fuss.

SALT SWEPT HAIR

Salt water is great for the skin and is an instant style saver. After a long day at the beach leave your hair to do its thing and work that beautiful salty ‘do. Beach babe and bikini blogger Tash Oakley does salty, beachy hair to perfection and shows us how wind swept hair is the perfect accessory for your Camilla kaftan. If the ocean isn’t at your back door then you can still create this effortless ‘do with John Frieda’s Ocean Waves Sea Salt Spray. Just spray through damp hair and let it do the rest.

TOUSLED BOB

Cutting your hair off can be a scary decision, but summer is the perfect opportunity to show off a new hairstyle, so make a date with those scissors now. The ‘Bingle Bob’ is low maintenance and won’t eat in to your morning. Try Kevin Murphy’s Powder Puff for some extra volumising. All you need to do is add a small amount to the roots of your hair and it will do the rest. Bed hair has never looked so good.

MILKMAID 2.0

Summer heat combined with long hair can be a nightmare. Braids are an awesome way to create an up-do that exudes an air of Grecian goddess yet gives you understated glamour that takes you easily from day to night. Aussie-born E! Entertainment reporter Renee Bargh shows us how this look is done and adds a bun for some extra edginess. Part your hair down the middle, plait each side and pin away. R+Co’s Death Valley Dry Shampoo adds texture and grip for those thick, boho braids. You’ll be ready for Coachella in no time.

THE HIGH PONY

A slick high ponytail is the perfect way to get your hair off your face but still have movement. Singer and style diva Delta Goodrem shows us how to create the perfect pony that is messy but oozing with sophisticated cool. V05 Styling Gel is great as it dries quickly and doesn’t give your hair that cement like feeling. Apply a generous amount (depending on your hair length and thickness) to the palm of your hand and smooth through the top half of your hair. Pull it all together by brushing and off you go.

TOP KNOTS

If you’re pushed for time in the mornings (um, who isn’t?) creating a big beautiful bun is the answer. Whether it’s a slick ballet bun or a messy up-do, a topknot is a sure fire way to have you out the door in no time. Model and mum Miranda Kerr shows us just how effortless is looks. Clean up any flyaways with Bumble and Bumble’s Classic Hairspray.

THE DISNEY PRINCESS ‘DO

Watching Disney princesses growing up, we all loved their whimsical half up/half down hairdos and it’s just as relevant now. The easy go-to style gets your hair off your face, but doesn’t commit you to the full up-do. Run your fingers above your ears and tie the top section up. The Invisibobble Hair Tie leaves no kinks after all day wear so is great if you want to take your hair out again. Model Jess Hartshows us how to add this ‘do to our street style for an edgy look that is playful and not overdone.
