Coconut Water

Fresh coconut water is packed with potassium and electrolytes, which make it amazing for rehydration and therefore, excellent for keeping the skin supple and hydrated.  I love putting coconut water in smoothies and mixing it with hazelnuts, organic vanilla protein powder, chia seeds, banana and honey.

Avocado

Avocados are one of nature’s superfoods and have an abundance of health and skin promoting nutrients. Avocados are packed with vitamin E (great for stimulating our skin’s collagen production), as well as antioxidants, which help to eliminate toxins from the body. The monounsaturated fat content in avocados can also assist in moisturising and hydrating the skin, leaving it nourished and regenerated. I add avocado to all of my smoothies as it adds a really rich and creamy texture along with an added boost of protein.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is wonderfully diverse in treating our internal health, so it’s only natural that when applied externally, its incredible anti-oxidative, antibacterial and anti-fungal properties would enrich our skin too. Coconut oil is rich in beautiful fats, which are resistant to oxidative stress and free radical formation (a major course in skin aging), so applying coconut oil topically as well incorporating it into our diets, helps to maintain a youthful glow.

Beauty-wise, coconut oil is truly multi-purpose and can be used as a facial and eye cleanser, cuticle cream, soap, lip balm or bath oil. Likewise, the options for integrating this superfood into our cooking are boundless; from a drop in your tea, in a stir-fry, within delicious raw treats to hit the sweet spot or simply drizzled over steaming hot quinoa porridge for breakfast.

Whey Protein

We love whey protein because it’s a delicious and nutritious natural food source that can be easily incorporated into our everyday diet. We use Bare Blends WPI Powder most days to help us fuel our bodies with the protein and nutrients they need to function at optimum capacity.  Whey protein is rich in amino acids which help boost collagen levels in the skin, giving structure to the tissue and preventing sagging.

Blueberries

Blueberries are another of our favourite superfoods that are a quick and easy snack to enjoy. These little blue babies are jam packed with antioxidants that keep our skin feeling fresh by helping neutralise any free radicals in our bodies that damage our cells and cause premature ageing. They also have a high water content, so they help to hydrate the skin.

We love combining both whey protein and blueberries in our daily smoothies. Our favourite recipe is our ‘Berrylicious Blue Bowl’ which contains;

1 cup Frozen Blueberries
1 Frozen Banana
1 cup Coconut Water
3 Tbs Bare Blends Vanilla Bean WPI Powder

Tip: After blending all ingredients together and top with some fresh blueberries. Simply delicious!
