SO, HOW DOES IT WORK?
By exercising on a vibrating plate (think squats, pushups, planks, bridges etc) you are putting additional load on your muscles. On a proper machine, the plate vibrates in an upward motion (not side to side like some of the cheaper knock offs). By accelerating against earth gravity (which is pulling us downward) increased loading is placed onto our muscles and bones. This stimulates muscle and bone growth, weight loss and other benefits.
The effects of whole body vibration (this upward motion) have been used by NASA to help keep astronauts strong in space, and there have been numerous research papers on its effects, which include increased muscle strength and power, increased bone density, reduced body fat and reduced aches and pains. It also helps with circulation and in turn lymphatic drainage and cellulite. I noticed this as soon as I started using it ten years ago and found that I was able to build strength much faster than I did with regular training. In fact muscle contractions occur at more than 25 times per second. And with less effort. They say that 10 minutes on a vibration trainer is equivalent to 30-45 minutes of conventional training.
After years of pining after the $10,000 machines that I would occasionally use in gyms I discovered a home machine that was infinitely more affordable: Hypervibe G10 mini is under $1,500 and is one of the few home machines that have performed alongside top machines for the proven health benefits.
It’s also small and portable, and fits nicely behind my couch. For the last couple of months I’ve stepped up my Hypervibe training to just two to three times a week and already seen a marked difference. Everything is just firmer – waist, thighs, tummy. My cellulite has definitely reduced and I have definition in my biceps for the first time in years and I feel stronger than ever.
