If you’re craving a little bit of Christmas inspiration beyond the usual gift pack fodder, consider looking to the style icons of the screen. To give you some thought starters, the Beauticate team dreamed up a shopping list in line inspired by our favourite IT girls from the salacious sixties right through to today.

SIGOURNEY CANTELO, EDITOR AND FOUNDER – TALITHA GETTY

I’ve long been obsessed with Talitha Getty’s style circa 1970 so this summer I’ll take some notes from her floaty Moroccan style. Think embroidered caftans, doll-like lashes and swathes of white linen. We’re heading to a beach house on the South Coast so I’ll be packing all the trimmings for Christmas day including dinnerwear and décor. I’ll be setting the table with In The Roundhouse’s fabulous plates with bottles of Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque Champagne and lighting Acqua di Parma’s holiday candle the woody and spicy Magia Del Camino to really set the scene.

LEAH ROCKLIFF, EDITORIAL COORDINATOR AND DESIGNER – HAYLEY BIEBER

This Christmas, I am taking style inspiration from the most modern muse of mine, Hailey Beiber. Her style is simple street-style glam, which is exactly what I need as a busy Mum of two boys. An oversized blazer – an ideal outfit topper for the cooler summer days paired with a pair of bike shorts, and cap for the beach and our camping trip in Jan are at the top of my wishlist. My beauty routine over the next few months, much like Hailey’s, will be mainly skincare focused to give my face a break from wearing too much makeup. To achieve her signature glow, I will be using things like a skin brightening vitamin c, an LED face mask and ultra-hydrating lip balm with added SPF to keep them glazed AND protected from the sun!

ZOE BRIGGS,  FEATURES WRITER – LIZ TAYLOR

I am taking my cues from La Liz this season and making it (almost) all about the makeup – pre-events, she revelled in spending two hours perfecting her gorgeous face. I think she’d appreciate the time-saving luxury of Tatcha’s Overnight Recovery Duo – the night before, prep your skin with the soothing and plumping Indigo Overnight Repair cream, and ensure a kissable pout with The Kissu Lip Mask. Then, day of, you can devote your time to maquillage. Imitate her famously full, arched brows, shape the face, fluff the lashes and set it all in place with the Benefit Holiday Forward to Gorgeous pack (PS: the cute gift tin means zero wrapping). Liz, the world’s most famous diamond devotee, would be sure to appreciate the sparkling-handled drawers of Charlotte Tilbury’s aptly-named Diamond Chest of Beauty Stars, not to mention the truly perfect cream eyeshadow stick and kohl liner within, perfect for shaping and drawing attention to your own gorgeous eyes (even if they’re not famously violet). Speaking of diamonds, Narvi’s divinely dangling crystal waterfall earrings are excellent quality, and a bargain price point compared to the real thing. Jewels affixed, slip into this elegantly fitted, décolleté ruby red frock by Mara Hoffman. Finally, spritz on of one of the fabulous Tocca minis from this vintage-inspired gift pack (perhaps channel Liz on her Capri vacations with the Italian blood orange and floral notes of ‘Stella’) and you’re ready to swan out the door to a fabulous soiree. Cheers, darling.

KRISTINA ZHOU –  WRITER – OLIVIA PALERMO

Rumour has it, Olivia Palermo was the real-life inspiration behind Gossip Girl’s Blair Waldorf. And it’s easy to see why: her elegant ensembles, glamorous beauty looks and classy aura just ooze understated opulence and luxury. During festive periods Olivia opts for a sultry old Hollywood aesthetic. And one way she achieves this is by applying a classic red lip colour straight from her own beauty line. For special occasions, Olivia’s beloved bronzed smokey eye is bolder and punctuated by smouldering dark plum eye shadow – which you can recreate with her Regalia eyeshadow palette. To achieve Olivia’s signature glossy locks, HH Simonsen’s moisturising shampoo and conditioner are a must. They are the holy-grail duo to salvage damaged hair and banish frizziness/flyaways – without weighing your hair down. But how do we create her go-to romantic curls? The Silver Bullet Duette Hair Straightener Duo is perfect for producing soft, natural looking curls that always look shiny and bodacious. The pack contains both a full-size ceramic straightener and a travel-size version, which is handy because different parts of your hair will often require different sized tools. In a big to amp up the festive spirit, I will sashay around in this pussy-bow silk blouse from Balmain – it embodies Olivia’s  sophistication to a tee and looks regal enough to belong in a royal portrait! To polish up the look, I will slip on this crossover triple band ring from Pandora – the perfect dainty touch to a vibrant outfit.

And finally, Olivia is actually a self-confessed homebody. So I’m going to enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal, cuddle with my loved ones, watch a cheery Christmas movie and look chic whilst doing it. Who says you can’t be extra whilst lounging around at home? Olivia certainly approves.

KARINA WHARTON –  WRITER – DITA VON TEESE

I’ve always had a fascination with vintage-inspired style, so Heather Sweet – better known as Dita Von Teese – is an enduring icon in my books. Taking her cues from Old Hollywood, Dita combines gilded glamour with a fun modern twist, and is always immaculately presented. This year, I’m leaving behind my usual slapdash approach to Christmas preparation (last minute present shopping, anyone?); instead, I aspire to be the perfect hostess, channeling Dita’s flawless execution. First things first: lipstick. For an extra festive sparkle, I’ll be wearing Gucci’s Rouge A Levres Lunaison: a bright, Santa-esque red with a glittering finish. Next, MAC’s adorable Effervescence Face Compact to highlight and sculpt (also a great gift idea – it’s already wrapped in a bow!). My guests will be served drinks in Cristina Re’s vintage-inspired pink crystal glasses, with a very-Von Teese 24 carat gold rim. Adorning the tree? Molton Brown’s bauble ornaments, an adorable stocking-stuffer filled with a glamourous vintage cuvée scented body wash (you may recall that Dita is well-known for bathing in a cocktail glass, so bringing bubbly into the bathroom feels very on-brand). And, hopefully, underneath said tree with my name on it will be AERIN’s Joyful Rose set, a fun-yet-feminine fragrance duo in a scarlet gift box. Finally, when the festivities have finished – a glittering silk eye mask to ensure some much-needed beauty sleep after all that fun with family and friends.

MIKAELA LEZCANO DE ORLÉANS, BEAUTY ASSISTANT – JANE BIRKIN

Jane Birkin to me represents the ultimate cool girl. Her effortless yet chic style has inspired my looks for this summer. Birkin embodies the less is more approach to fashion and beauty, which is precisely what I need for a holiday in the heat. How can I achieve this? Easy! With an uncomplicated skincare routine that deeply hydrates and protects my skin from the sun, embracing my natural hair texture and packing clothing staples that can be used in different ways. My main skincare staple this summer is the Tropicology Avocado Face Oil, the natural collagen-stimulating formula containing over 11 vitamins that is ideal for hydrating and reducing signs of ageing which are my main concerns when spending extended periods of time in the sun. Dry hair is another worry of mine, salt water and the sun can damage the hair even causing breakage, to avoid this I would recommend using the Kérastase Elixir Ultime, it makes your hair feel silky smooth without making it oily. Jane’s iconic wicker basket represents the importance of a good handbag, therefore this summer I have chosen the Piper Miami Tote Bag in Coral which will always stand out and elevate my beach looks. Sunnies are a must for your Christmas holidays and I cannot recommend Luv Lou enough, their classic and feminine eyewear is perfect for that effortless look. Clothes-wise I will be channelling my inner 70’s Jane by opting for wide-legged flowing pants and quality basics.
