The Body Shop, no stranger to dedicating themselves to a good cause, have decided to take on lobbying the United Nations for an international ban on animal testing for all beauty products and brands.

Their new campaign, Forever Against Animal Testing, in collaboration with non-profit Cruelty Free International, aims to completely ban animal testing on an international scale. To do so, they will need 8 million signatures to sign their petition in order to take their case to the UN by August 2018.

While this is a new campaign, it definitely isn’t the first time that these two companies have tackled animal testing. In fact, The Body Shop was the first global beauty brand to campaign for cruelty free cosmetics in 1989. They continued their fight throughout the years and eventually joined forces with Cruelty Free International. Together, they were able to reach the one million signatures needed to implement the EU ban in 2013, inspiring other countries such as South Korea, India, New Zealand and Australia (which will implement its ban starting July of this year) to do the same.

For more information and to sign the petition, head over to http://www.thebodyshop.com.au/our-commitment/against-animal-testing. It will only take a few minutes to be able to say that you took part in this historic campaign. Make sure to also tell all your friends and family know as well, and remember to #ForeverAgainstAnimalTesting!
