I got married almost eight years ago and so much has changed when it comes to wedding planning. For starters, technology. When I was plotting my big day I spent hours poring over bridal magazines, carefully cutting out references of dresses, flowers and cakes that I would then file in plastic sleeves in a huge white binder. I used to cart my Big White Wedding Folder to meetings with suppliers, thinking I was SO organized. It even had a slimline calculator in the front so I could work on my budget! It’s laughable when I think about how easy is for brides now. With a host of wedding blogs, apps and of course, Pinterest, it’s never been simpler to search for and store your inspo - ALL of it, in a tiny little Iphone, which, conveniently, is always in your bag for planning at a moment notice. And it has a calculator built in, too! The wonders never cease...

A fair bit has changed on the beauty front, too. Now, there are so many advances and innovations to ensure you are your most perfectly flawless on your day of days. If I was getting married now, I’d be all over them:

To help winch myself into my tightly boned Alex Perry dress, I would follow the blood type diet, do weekly Hypoxi sessions and maybe even a course of Cool Sculpting to target those annoying bulges that exercise can’t shift. For hair, I’d start with the Silicea supplements three months out and I’d book in for an Olaplex colour two weeks before my big day, to give the colour time to settle.

For a brilliant smile, I’d do a course of ‘lite’ teeth whitening at Clean, Clear and Correct – it’s gradual and less painful than traditional in-chair power whitening. And I would definitely get lash extensions – they negate the need for mascara, which for me, is a major win. (I sobbed all the way up the aisle and through my vows!) I would have aSpray Toniqs custom-blended spray tan that has been tweaked according to my skin type and colouring to ensure there’s not a whisper of tangerine in my tan, and I would treat myself and my bridesmaids to a Shellac manicure (in “Powder My Nose”- the perfect nude) to ensure a chip-free, high-shine talons all the way to my honeymoon. As for skin? In the months leading up to my big day I was obsessive about my complexion. I spent hours driving all over Sydney to different beauticians and medispas submitting my poor worn out face to various peels, microdermabrasion and other glorified facials that promised an aisle-ready complexion. It was expensive and time consuming, but there wasn’t much you could do on the home front back then. Now there are a host of DIY kits that allow you to do much of what the aesthetician can do, but in the comfort of your own bathroom.

Dr. LeWinn’s have launched the Reversaderm system, which is perfect for brides or anyone wanting to get their skin in tip top shape. A glycolic resurfacing range, it’s designed to be used in a two-week cycle and addresses pigmentation, acne scarring, fine lines. For daily use, there’s a clarifying cleanser (which contains a generous 12% serve of glycol acid), a collagen-boosting serum and an antioxidant-pumped cream. There’s also a peelthat’s designed to be used every second day that contains glycolic, lactic and mandelic acids – all superstars in revealing fresh glowing skin – and an enzyme detox mask to use once a week, which further exfoliates and refreshes tired skin. Dr LeWinn’s are running a competition for brides planning their big day. To enter, put together a wedding inspo Pinterest board with the hashtags #mybigday and #reversaderm in the Pin board title.  One major winner will be selected to have a beauty consultation with a Dr LeWinn’s skincare specialist and will be given the full Reversaderm range for the entire bridal party. 10 runners up will receive a 2-week sample pack of the Reversaderm range, which is one cycle of treatment.View the terms and conditions of the comp here.

It’s a win – win, really. Organise your wedding and go into the running to win a skincare routine? I’d trade my Big White Wedding Folder for that any day.

Couldn’t agree more! Spraytoniqs is flawless! Wouldn’t risk it with anything else.
