A new entrant in the world of non-invasive beauty treatments, Emface, is a facial technology developed by BTL (the team behind Emsculpt) that’s designed to help improve facial tone without injections. With its unique combination of radiofrequency and electrical stimulation, it’s gaining attention as a fresh option for those seeking subtle enhancement without needles.

We quiz specialist plastic surgeon Dr. Liew, who has been using Emface in his Shape Clinic for some time for his thoughts: “The Emface technology combines electrical energy and radiofrequency to create an interesting synergy,” says Dr. Liew of Shape Clinic. “It’s been well received by patients looking for ways to support skin tone and structure without injectables.”

He explains that Emface is particularly appealing to those who prefer a needle-free approach. It uses High-Intensity Facial Electrical Stimulation (HIFES) combined with radiofrequency to help stimulate collagen and improve facial muscle tone.

The treatment involves adhesive applicators placed on key areas of the face during a 20-minute session. According to Dr. Liew, the combination of HIFES and radiofrequency may support collagen stimulation and help maintain muscle tone over time.

So how does it feel? The sensation has been likened to Emsculpt—where the muscle contractions are noticeable but not usually painful. Some people describe a pulsing sensation or mild ache, especially near the jaw or teeth area, but most find it comfortable.

The typical Emface protocol includes four sessions, each around 25 minutes. Improvements are said to become visible over time, with many clinics suggesting that the full effect is seen approximately 90 days after completion.

Dr. Liew explains the differentiation from traditional fillers or Botox, pointing out that, Emface is positioned as a non-invasive option that supports facial volume and tone without injections.

Emface does come with a notable caveat – the cost. With a price tag around $4,500 for a series of four sessions, it’s a premium investment. However, Dr. Liew attests to its patient satisfaction, with more than nine out of 10 patients expressing contentment, even among skeptics.
