This time of year can really take its toll on your wellbeing. There’s this downhill tumble from November when the pace at work picks up as you try to finish everything… Then there are Christmas parties, school concerts, barbecues; there’s shopping to do, fridges to stock, reports to finish, relatives to manage, holidays to plan, presents to wrap… You’re eating canapés for dinner, averaging a few hours sleep and you STILL haven’t managed to get the decorations down from the attic. By Christmas Eve I’m usually ready to go into fetal position with my thumb in my mouth.

Unfortunately there’s not much we can do about the craziness. It’s going to do its thing whether we join in or not, but what we can do is think about the aftermath. How we’re going to recover and reboot; and how we’re going to take on the New Year. Now is the time to start planning to put your body and mind first. This Christmas beg your family to bypass the gifts that will just collect dust and give you something to nurture the soul. Or even better – don’t wait for someone else to buy it for you – add it to your own cart and do yourself your biggest festive favour. In my latest for the Crown Spa Society, I wrote about the gifts you’ll be grateful you gave yourself – discover what’s making my wishlist this Christmas here
