As I arrive and take a seat inside the salon, I’m immediately offered tea and coffee by the lovely staff. The salon itself is intimate and tucked away in the streets of Darlinghurst, allowing you to sit back, relax and let the professionals take care of you. Monique’s team have a plethora of experience under their wings, and many have jetsetted around the globe with a portfolio of star clients in tow.
I’m greeted by Taylah, who listens attentively to my aspirations of going lighter and recommends balayage to ease into the lightening process. She starts by adding chocolate foils near the top of the roots, followed by baby blond and biscuity tones throughout the rest of my hair to lighten up around the face.
The colourists at Que know how to seamlessly achieve colour that instantly rejuvenates and revives otherwise lacklustre hair. I watch in awe as Taylah does my foils with precision, and then with a freehand technique, sweeps on Olaplex’s Bond Multiplier to the lower sections of my hair. Olaplex is a revolutionary new active ingredient, which lightens and colours the hair without any breakage – perfect for aspiring blondes. We chat away about Fashion week and where she was part of the team backstage with Ginger and Smart this year.
After a few minutes of waiting for the colour to lift, I’m sent to basin for it all to be washed out. The head massage instantly relaxes any stress and tension I’d brought with me. Taylah also uses Christophe Robin’s Regenerating Mask with Rare Prickly Pear Seed Oil on me, an amazing product which immediately softens and strengthens my hair with the addition of smelling divine!
Back at my seat and Taylah starts blow drying my hair, I let out an involuntary gasp – my hair looks incredible. The afternoon light bounces off the new additions of golden hues and I leave the salon feeling like I’ve been transformed into an effortless Parisian It girl without a care in the world. I’ll definitely be coming back for my next colour.
