When Australia first met model Tahnee Atkinson, she was a 16-year-old standing at the threshold of big things. See, Tahnee wasn't just taking on her first modeling gig, she was doing it on reality TV, auditioning for Australia's Next Top Model. Of course, she won and has more than lived up the show's title promise. The now 25-year-old hasn't stopped. She has walked for top designers, including the show's judge Alex Perry, and shot for Harper's Bazaar, fronted campaigns for Maybelline New York and Miu Miu and is now the face of Le Tan's Uber Dark range (with a different formula for different skin tones. Amazing). The Bondi beauty is also a self-confessed lover of makeup, skincare and ensuring she glows from within... Oh and loooves Elvis. In short, a girl after our own heart. To learn more about Tahnee Atkinson, we went to her beach-side pad to chat about her beauty arsenal, her top tanning tricks and the products she uses to get that unmistakeable glow...
Before Tahnee Atkinson was on the show she hadn’t really modelled before…
“But it was always something I was interested in. I was 16 years old. I love that now I get to do something different every day. I’m constantly working with different people in different places, it keeps it exciting. I also love that I get to travel around the world and see new places for the first time.
I’m very interested in beauty and am always researching.
I’m constantly trying new brands and products but definitely have my old favourites I still buy and love. Every second night I use Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Extra Strength Daily Peel wipes, I feel these give me an instant glow and clean any excess dirt and makeup from my face. They are easy to travel with and have never let me down. I also always carry a little container of coconut oil everywhere I go. If my skin is feeling dry I always apply it where ever I am, it’s also a great natural makeup remover.
My mum was always on my back about sunscreen and drinking lots of water.
It frustrated me at the time but I’m so glad she did as it’s now part of my everyday routine. She also taught me that girls should always have manicured hands and feet. I really didn’t know much about beauty growing up. I didn’t really use any products except a daily face moisturiser with SPF.
When I’m not working I like to give my skin a break…
… so I usually just apply a moisturiser with SPF or an oil in the morning and if I need a little bit of coverage I use Hour Glass concealer with Mecca illuminator for a glow. When I go out I tend to apply a heavier amount then I do in the day. I like Studio Face and Body by MAC for my foundation and I like to wear a smokey eye or a lip. Ruby Woo by MAC is the perfect red for lipstick and I wear a Chanel eyeshadow pallet for my eyes.
Tahnee Atkinson is all about groomed brows…
“I believe the shape of your eye brows can change your face. Kirstin Fisher at double bay is the place to go. I also go to the All Saints Clinic in Double Bay. I see Chiza the dermal therapist and wellness coach there, she has recently introduced me to Epi blading. Epi blading removes the top layer of dead skin and any tiny hairs. After your skin is so smooth and makes applying any make up or creams to your face super even and clean.
I recently experienced the most incredible healing therapy massage…
… at All Saints clinic in Double bay. It was the most relaxed I’ve been in a long time. It’s a 60 minute massage followed by 15 minutes of chakra healing. Prasanna removes any negative energy and replaces it with positive energy. I highly recommend this treatment and Prasanna at All Saints is the man to see. I’ve also started having regular facials and absolutely swear by them. I like to get facials at Melanie Grant. They do the most amazing organic facial peel followed by light therapy.
When I’m in Australia I live in Bondi so I like to walk the Bondi to Bronte…
… 3 to 4 times a week as well as boxing with my trainers Zach and Siannon at Transpose Fitness. I had never boxed before and they are super patient and have taught me the right technique, I’ve grown to love it so much.
Luckily, I love healthy food…
… but I also believe in having a well-balanced diet so that means I can occasionally indulge in something naughty. My routine is very healthy. In the summer I always have smoothies, salads, wraps and graze on fruit and nuts. In winter I eat a lot of roast veggies, meat and soups. I take a probiotic, multi vitamin every morning and love The Beauty Chefand WelleCo. The Super Elixir as a boost to smoothies. Beauty definitely comes from within so it’s important to look after your inside as well as outside. I also like to drink apple cider vinegar daily.
Tahnee Atkinson likes to spend money on designer bags and shoes…
“and pair them with my favourite labels. I love Australian designers, my wardrobe is filled with, Sir the Label, Camilla & Marc, Bec & Bridge, Alice McCall and vintage pieces I find while I’m traveling. My favourite pieces at the moment are my C&M navy blue blazer and all my SIR Summer pieces.”
