Working in a highly social job as I do, weekends for me are sacred. They’re my time to reboot and focus on simple things that make me feel good: park time with the kids, wandering the neighbourhood and being in nature. When one of my go-to clothing brands Boden asked me to shoot my edit of their current spring collection I was only too happy to oblige.

I’ve been a fan of British brand Boden for years – their cashmere, denim and children’s wear always fit beautifully, are well priced and are excellent quality. Here – four looks I love for this in-between season where the days are bright and sunny, but there’s still a Londonesque chill in the air – read: perfect blazer and jeans weather.

THE BRODERIE BLOUSE

I love Broderie Anglaise anything and the style is beautifully imagined here in this navy blouse. The cut-out details give visual interest, which is perfect worked back with a turned-up denim jean and whiter than white trainers. I love Lulu’s little Liberty print leggings and the detailing on her stripy navy top – it’s those touches that make Boden’s kidswear feel that little bit more special.

JUST ADD

A red lip. The easiest way to lift your mood on a sleepy Saturday is to add a red lip. It doesn’t have to be super high maintenance – just dabbing a little lipstick (this is MAC Lady Danger) onto the tip of your finger and pressing it into your lips makes it more of a stain, meaning you don’t have to worry about constant reapplication.

THE TWEED BLAZER

I’m a sucker for a bit of tweed – it conjures up the country life I dream of having one day. To make it feel fresh and spring-appropriate I team it with denim, trainers and a crisp white shirt. This look is perfect when you want to feel a bit more dressed up for brunch, lunch or meeting friends at the park. I’ve put Max in a gorgeous navy Breton striped tee and Lulu in the cutest denim pinafore (I just wish they had one in my size!).

JUST ADD

A red mani. One of the fastest ways to add a touch of glamour is a classic red nail and – again – it doesn’t have to be high maintenance if you get gels. I go to The Nail Lab in Sydney’s Darlinghurst, which is just near my office and they use Colour Me Pretty Gels – this shade is a lovely cherry red called “I See Red”.

THE BRETON TOP

I literally live in stripy Breton tops on the weekend – they’re such an easy and comfy option and work well with denim or any other neutrals in your wardrobe. This Boden gem is a classic navy and white stripe with lovely multicolour detail on the sleeves (all the better for tickles with little people). And I love how Max styled his Breton – under a white shirt with just the striped sleeves poking out.

JUST ADD

Tousled waves. An easy way to add texture when I do my weekend wash is to plait it and let it dry then let out the plait and spray generously with a texture spray like Oribe Dry Texturising Spray – it’s gives you that gritty, tousled texture without needing to reach for the tong.

THE STRETCHY KNIT

Nothing tops a knit in the comfort stakes and I love this stretchy cotton top for easy weekends. The yellow detailing on the seams contrasts with the navy and works back beautifully with piping on the dark denim jeans. Both fabrics have two-way stretch, which is terribly important when you’re playing wizzy-dizzies in the park.

JUST ADD

A fresh daytime fragrance. I paired these Boden pieces with a lovely British perfume brand – Penhaligon’s Hidden London in Kensington Amber. With refined notes of cinnamon and tonka bean it transports me to the stylish streets of London and is perfect for slightly-chilly spring afternoons.
