Located conveniently in the Eastern Suburbs shopping Mecca of Westfield Bondi Junction, this Ella Bache is salon is just the place to tick “get good skin” off your To-Do list. In a high-traffic stretch between David Jones and a cute Toby’s Estate café, this sleek little salon contains four treatment rooms that are dedicated to offering the brands much-loved facial treatments, spray tans and waxing – many with express options so they can be crammed into your lunch hour.
An express treatment is just what the doctor ordered for me today. I’m wedging my Extreme Regeneration Mask & AHA Peel Express Facial Treatment between a meeting and a lunch launch, and there’s no time for any fluffiness. Luckily, my therapist reads my mind,– no sooner have I stepped into the chic navy and grey space than she leads me into darkened room. There’s a cushy treatment bed and a beautiful vase of Magnolia Grandiflora in the corner. So far, so chic. She asks me a few questions about my skin and routine and then gets cracking on the cleanse.
She applies the brands Huix Aux Fleurs – a delicious floral-scented cleansing oil. My skin, which has been a bit crepey and sad lately makes an almost audible slurp in satisfaction. Next up, the revealing fruit enzyme. This is the good stuff. The stuff that makes your complexion look all luminous and like you’ve just been on a juice cleanse. It’s like having a peel but not as intense. Since my skin is particularly sensitive at the moment, it tingles and itche. My therapist assures me that it’s all normal to have a bit of warmth, but towels it off a bit earlier than usual, just in case. My skin calms down almost immediately and gratefully laps up the lotion with Intex Oil to massage- a true Ella Baché original blend packed with ingredients to nourish, treat and relax the skin.
She finishes with a generous application of the brand’s famous Great 30 + tinted Sunbasethat, with its tinted lanolin base, hydrates beautifully and leaves my complexion looking all glowy and plump. I examine my skin in the mirror and there’s none of that telltale “I’ve-just-had-a-facial-pinkness”, just smooth, even skin that looks like it’s actually cared for. I put on my top and bid Olivia farewell with a sense of relief, pleased that I’ve managed to fit a little beauty maintenance in to such a mental week.
All in all my express facial was a total win. If you want no-nonsense skin maintenance mixed with a heavy dose of practical convenience, then the Ella Bache express is for you. And the location ticks all the busy-life-boxes. If you’re not as time-pressed as I am today, I love that you can combine it with your visit to Fitness First, the weekly Coles shop, Yum Cha at Sky Pheonix or a meander through DJ’s. Maybe next time.
