Some guests make you laugh before you have even pressed record, and Amy Gerard is one of them. The content creator, radio host and author has built a whole career out of saying the thing everyone else is thinking, and in this episode of Beautiful Inside she is every bit as funny and unfiltered as you would hope. We covered the lot, from viral parenting videos to her two hit podcasts, the deeply personal reno of the home she grew up in, and yes, THAT sex chapter from her memoir.

From Viral Videos to Two Hit Podcasts

Amy's rise started where so many do now, with a phone and a willingness to be honest about the chaos of modern motherhood. Those raw, relatable parenting videos struck a nerve, and the audience that found her has followed her everywhere since.

She turned that connection into two podcasts, Beyond the Likes and her parenting show Beyond the Chaos, and a weekend radio slot on KIIS FM. We talked about what it actually takes to keep showing up online, and how she protects herself from the parts of social media that can quietly chip away at you.

Rebuilding the Home She Grew Up In

The most moving part of our chat was about her house. Amy's childhood home was lost in the 1994 bushfires, a trauma that shaped so much of her early life. Years later, she bought the property back.

What she has created there is extraordinary. She has renovated it into a nature-inspired family home filled with love and memory, taking a painful chapter of her past and rewriting it into something healing. It is renovation as a kind of closure, and she speaks about it beautifully.

THAT Sex Chapter

Amy's memoir Strap Yourself In is a memoir of motherhood, dancefloors and all the mayhem in between, and it does not sugarcoat any of it. Birth, marriage, friendship, careers, holidays, it is all in there.

And then there is the sex chapter, the one everyone keeps asking her about. We get into why she chose to be so honest about intimacy and long-term relationships, and how being that open in print actually feels once the book is out in the world.

Parenting, Marriage and Managing the Anxiety

For all the comedy, Amy is just as candid about the harder stuff. We talked about parenting and marriage, the mental load, and the anxiety that runs underneath so much of it. Her gift is finding the humour in the hard days without pretending they are not hard.

That is exactly where we pick things up in part two of our chat, where Amy goes deeper on mental health, motherhood and life's curveballs.

Where to Find Amy

You can follow Amy on Instagram, find Beyond the Chaos and Beyond the Likes on all podcast platforms, and read her memoir Strap Yourself In wherever you buy your books.
