New York Fashion Week A/W '17 has kicked off, showcasing a spectrum of beauty and makeup trends. But, the two trends that have caught our eye are almost polar opposites – bold, loud lips versus soft, effortless eyes.  Designers like Zac Posen, Cushnie Et Ochs, and Marchesa took part in the more modest makeup, opting for temperate, attainable makeup looks while designers like Jason Wu, Pamella Roland, and Erin Fetherston preferred a more vivid, sometimes ombré lip look.

Perhaps one of the most well-known brands for chic, effortless style is Calvin Klein. This season, legendary makeup artist Pat McGrath accommodated the brand’s uncomplicated style with an adventurous twist. McGrath highlighted the inner corners of the model’s eyes with a dash of silver. The subtlest iridescent accent combined both the bold makeup trends of the season with the classic feminine look.

Frequent front-row all stars emulated the trends as the watched on. Chiara Ferragni, Aimee Song, Olivia Palermo and Gwyneth Paltrow went for more effortless looks, while risk takers like Zoë Kravitz and Alexa Chung indulged in the bold lip trend.
