Youth Lab sits on a quiet street in West Perth, and the first thing it gets right is the parking. It's complimentary, it's out the front, and in a city where clinic parking usually means circling Hay Street, that counts for more than it should.
Inside the West Perth Clinic
The building is closer to Hamptons than to hospital. Polished floorboards, marble counters, blues and whites, designer chairs and rugs deep enough to lose a heel in. Reception reads more like a boutique hotel than a waiting room, right down to the iced tea, and the shelves behind it are lined with Ultraceuticals, Cosmedix and Mesoestetic. The treatment rooms carry on the same idea and could pass for a day spa, which is a deliberate piece of misdirection given what actually happens in them.
Dr Kate Jameson and the Team
Medical Director Dr Kate Jameson leads the clinic, working with a team of dermal therapists across advanced dermal therapies, injectables, dermal fillers and light-based treatments.
The Hydrafacial
Appointments start with Visia Skin Analysis, imaging that maps sun damage, redness, congestion and pigmentation before anyone decides what the session is for.
The Hydrafacial itself is a multi-step treatment built around a Vortex-Fusion serum delivery system. A cleanse and exfoliation first, then an acid peel to loosen the pores, then extractions by vortex suction, and finally an infusion of antioxidants and hyaluronic acid. The serum goes in at each step while the debris comes out, which is the whole conceit of the machine.
Healite II LED
Healite II is Youth Lab's LED light device, offered in 15-minute sessions in a separate room and usually booked on the end of a Hydrafacial rather than on its own.
