“I love fragrances…

I started discovering them when I was very young. I think my first ever fragrance was by Estee Lauder.  I’m alternating now between the Chanel Mademoiselle and Chanel Number Nineteen. I quite love this one, Fracas by Robert Piguet, which I picked up when I was in Paris last. I used to play with my mother’s fragrances too.  She was a beautiful Irish woman with dark hair and blue eyes. My mother had beautiful skin and was always very well dressed. I had a very glamorous aunt who, when I was four, would take me into the city where she’d get her nails painted and she’d let me get mine done too.  I was always very interested in adornment, so all of this is really a part of my DNA.  With my own sense of style, I suppose there’s a certain classiness to it but also a sort of edge.  I don’t think I dress like an older woman.

I always start with a clean face

before I do my makeup.  I think that’s the most important part. I cleanse with Clarins Cleansing Milk and use Olay’s Regenerist Serum; it’s not that expensive and I find it quite effective.  My mother had Olay years and years ago so I was brought up with it.   I use a combination of luxury and chemist products, which is kind of how I dress.  A nice mix of high and low is good I think.  I have a Lancôme Toner and really love Lancôme’s Absolue L’Extrait Lifting Firming Radiance Cream and Eye Cream. Lancôme are very good to me and I’ve formed a bit of a relationship with them over the years.  I think it’s a very good product and I adore the packaging.

I did a lot of damage to my skin

when I was younger.  Back then we didn’t know enough about sun damage and I came from the northwest of New South Wales where it was very hot and dry. I figured out it was so important to wear sunscreen when I was about 32, which was a little late actually. I make sure I use a strong SPF now.  I think wearing sunscreen everyday has been instrumental in protecting my skin all these years.  That would be my advice to young women – stay out of the sun, really that would be the absolute number one. And always moisturize, put it on your hands, and face, [you’re] never too young to start.

I swear by Maybelline Shine Free Stick

and Lancôme Ultra Lifting Radiance Foundation to give my skin a good base.  I apply a Chanel cream blush and then a Youngblood or Estee Lauder eye shadow.  My eyebrows are quite pale now so I use a darker shadow to fill them.  I have a Chanel face powder which I just brush all over to set everything.  My mascara is by Lancôme and I line my eyes with an eye pencil.  For lips, I always put a little lip liner on first before apply my lipstick.  My favourite lipsticks are by Revlon, Bobbi Brown, M.A.C. Cosmetics and Chanel, but I’m always on the hunt for the perfect lipstick colour.

I was born a blonde

but then it soon went to a light brown, as it does. When I was eighteen, I started doing highlights and then in my forties it started to go grey. I just let it happen.  I guess it’s better for the quality of your hair if you don’t colour it.  I generally blow dry my own hair unless I have a special event, which in that case I’ll get my done by Anna Macri Salon in Double Bay.
