In this episode of Beautiful Inside by Beauticate, I sat down with the brilliant Davinia Taylor, bestselling author, actress and biohacking expert, while she was in Sydney visiting from her home in the UK. We went deep on her health journey, from overcoming addiction to discovering the power of gut health, hormones and biohacking for longevity. It is one of my favourite interviews yet, raw, real and full of game changing insights.
From the ladette years to a full reset
Davinia first found fame as an actress, living what she calls the classic nineties and noughties ladette lifestyle. Behind the parties was a long, painful relationship with alcohol, and she is refreshingly honest about how addiction shaped those years. Her recovery became the foundation for everything that followed, a complete rethink of how she ate, moved, slept and looked after her mind.
Out of that reset came WillPowders, the wellbeing business she founded to help women, and their families, take back control of their health with real food and a science backed approach.
The link between your gut and your mind
One of the biggest shifts for Davinia was understanding that so much of our mood is made in the gut, not just the mind. She talks about how cleaning up her diet, balancing her blood sugar and supporting her gut steadied her mental health in a way that willpower alone never could.
It is a powerful reframe, especially for anyone who has felt anxious, foggy or flat and assumed it was all in their head. As Davinia explains, sometimes the fastest route to a calmer mind runs straight through the kitchen.

Hormones, and why women need a different rulebook
Davinia is passionate that women have been handed advice designed for men's bodies, then blamed when it does not work. In her book Hack Your Hormones, she breaks down how our hormones drive everything from cravings to sleep to motivation.
We talked about why the usual eat less, move more message so often backfires for women, and how working with your hormones, rather than against them, changes the whole picture.
Davinia's go-to biohacks
This is where it gets practical. Davinia shares the simple, repeatable habits she swears by for glowing skin, steady energy and a sharp mind. Think morning light, protein and healthy fats over sugar spikes, smart supplementation and movement that builds strength rather than punishing the body.
None of it is extreme. That is the point. Her whole philosophy, captured in her first bestseller It's Not A Diet, is about small, sustainable choices that compound into real change.
